Sahara desert is not the largest desert. To be specific Antarctic Desert is the largest one which is basically a polar desert. So, what exactly is a polar desert ?
Polar
deserts are the regions of the Earth that fall under an ice cap
climate. Despite rainfall totals low enough to normally classify as a
desert, polar deserts are distinguished from true deserts by low annual
temperatures and evapotranspiration. Most polar deserts are covered in
ice sheets, ice fields, or ice caps. Polar
deserts are areas with annual precipitation less than 250 mm and a mean
temperature during the warmest month of less than 10° C.
